Loughborough Students’ Archery Club Challenge Shield
This shield was donated by John Kennedy (Club Chair 2003-2004) and is shot for on the first Saturday of December each year. The round shot is unique to the club and this competition from January 2007 it took the name Kennedy. The archer with the highest aggregate score wins the shield.
Full rules:
- The competition is open only to current members of LSAC. Alumni and past members currently on “years out” may shoot at the discretion of the organiser.
- There will be up to 7 categories in which prizes will be awarded: Ladies Recurve, Gents recurve, Compound, Barebow Recurve / Longbow, Novice Ladies Recurve, Novice Gents Recurve, Novice Compound.
- Medals will be awarded on the following criteria:
- 1st only if 1or 2 archers compete in a category
- 1st & 2nd if 3 or 4 archers compete in a category
- 1st, 2nd & 3rd if 5 or more archers compete in a category
- A shield, to be kept by the club, will be awarded to the archer with the highest overall score for the round.
- A novice is an archer who has not shot (except "have a go’s" /summer camps etc) before the September in which the academic year commences.
- The round to be shot shall be a 'Kennedy' as follows:
- 2½ Dozen arrows at a 5 zone 16” face at 20yds scoring 5,4,3,2,1
- 2½ Dozen arrows at a 10 zone 40cm face at 18m scoring 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1
- The scores to be added together to find the winner. In the event of a tie total gold’s (5’s from the 16" face and 10’s from the 40cm face) to be added together, followed by Gold’s + 9’s. Compounds to score 9 for the outer 10 zone and 10 for the inner 10 zone on the 40cm face. 6 sighter’s to be allowed at the begining of the round only.
